Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions
By proceeding with an order with Pony, Cob and Horse Saddles Ltd. (hereafter called PCH Saddles) you are agreeing to our terms and conditions as set out below. If you disagree with any part of our terms and conditions please do not proceed with an order. Your statutory rights are not affected. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
A call out fee will apply to all visits we make unless otherwise stated. Our call out fees vary by location and are set by the individual fitter. Please ask if you would like a quote. The call out fee covers the fitter’s travel and time to check one horse. Additional horses on a visit will incur an additional fee per horse and must be arranged in advance of the appointment.
Charges will apply to any adjustments made to your saddle depending on the work carried out. The majority of adjustments can be carried out on site at the time of your appointment.
All saddles should be checked regularly for fit and balance. Your horse / pony will change shape regularly; this can be due to the time of year, any changes to its feed or exercise regime, the horse’s age or its level of fitness. We recommend new saddles are checked within the first three months. Thereafter we recommend that all saddles are checked every 6 months or immediately should any issues arise. It is the owner’s responsibility to contact us to arrange checks as required.
Due to the way horses and ponies change shape, Pony Cob and Horse Saddles Ltd cannot guarantee that your saddle will continue to fit your horse/pony in the future.
Special conditions for new saddles:
We do not charge an additional call out fee to deliver and fit a saddle which has been made to order. The first adjustment made within 3 months of purchase of a new PCH saddle will be made free of charge, subject to the usual call out fee.
Payments for call outs and all services provided must be made at the time of the visit. All saddles must be paid for in full at the time of fitting, or before delivery is arranged if they are to be sent by courier.
A minimum deposit of £400 will be taken for all new saddle orders before the order will be deemed to have been placed.
All goods remain the property of Pony Cob and Horse Saddles Ltd until full payment has been received.
We accept payment in the form of cash, most debit and credit cards, bank transfer (made during the appointment only) and interest free finance via our partner, Divido Ltd. We no longer accept payment by cheque.
Divido 0% finance
We offer interest free finance to our customers on any purchases over the value of £900. We require a minimum deposit of £400, plus any call out fees to be paid at the time of the first visit. The balance of the cost of the saddle can be spread over 6 or 12 months. Please see our finance page for further details. We will help you to apply for and set up your finance agreement before placing your order, but the arrangement (and repayments) will not begin until the product has been delivered, fitted and accepted by you.
14 day trial on standard saddles
All our standard saddles are provided with a 14 day trial in accordance with Distance Selling Regulations, subject to certain conditions. These conditions are listed on the saddle fitting sheet and are also detailed below. The trial starts on the day the saddle is accepted or delivered to you or a third party nominated by you.
Your new saddle and any other leatherwork needs to be treated, all leather surfaces should be treated with a good quality leather treatment which is designed to seal and waterproof new leather. We recommend Sedgewick’s Leather Treatment which is available from us. Alternatively, you may prefer to apply 2 coats of Neatsfoot Oil. This treatment should be completed before you use your saddle for the first time and certainly before it gets wet. It should be cleaned using a good quality glycerine saddle soap after every use and it will benefit from being treated with a good quality leather conditioner containing wax and lanolin on a regular basis.
For the duration of the trial the saddle should not be exposed to rain, stirrup leathers must be attached underneath the flaps, girths must have roller type buckles and saddles must not be ridden wearing either wellingtons or rubber riding boots.
Refunds and Exchanges under the 14 day trial
If you wish to claim a refund or exchange on a saddle which is eligible for return you must inform us in writing within 14 days. You must then return the saddle to us within 7 days of informing us that you wish to return the saddle.
The address for returns is: Pony, Cob and Horse Saddles Ltd, Safestore Burnley Ltd, Unit 4 Boran Court, Network 65 Business Park, Burnley, Lancs, BB11 5TH.
It is the responsibility of the customer to return the saddle in good order and at their own cost. Please package saddles appropriately to prevent damage in transit. We strongly advise that you obtain proof of delivery, and insurance to cover the full value of the saddle should it be lost or damaged in transit. We work with several couriers, please contact us if you are struggling to arrange delivery and we will try to help.
A refund will be made within 7 days once the saddle has been inspected and found to be in as new and saleable condition. We may make a deduction from the refund if we find the saddle to be damaged, dirty, incomplete or unduly worn (not withstanding normal use to allow fair trial of the saddle).
Debit and credit card refunds must be made to the same card used to pay the original invoice. There will be a 4% deduction to cover fees and administration costs. Please allow 3-5 working days for the refund to show in your account. Cash, cheque and bank transfer payments will be refunded by bank transfer. A deduction of £10 will be made for purchases using a cheque, cash or bank transfer.
No refund will be provided for service fees associated with the saddle purchase.
Bespoke and Special Order Saddles
We offer a comprehensive bespoke saddlery service. To place an order for a Bespoke or Special Order saddle we will require a £400 deposit. This deposit becomes non refundable once the saddle is in production.
We will always endeavour to manufacture the saddle within 4 weeks of your order being placed. Once your saddle is ready we will contact you to arrange delivery of your saddle.
All of our saddles are hand-made and we often have to make trees individually to ensure the best fit. In some circumstances we are not able to deliver the saddle within the planned timescale. If we exceed our planned timescale by 14 days you are eligible for a full refund of your deposit if you wish to cancel your order. We will not be liable for any further costs incurred following a delay in saddle production (including but not limited to show entry fees, cancelled lessons, livery etc)
The 14-day trial does not extend to bespoke or special order saddles. We strongly encourage you to inspect and try your new saddle thoroughly at your fitting appointment and discuss any concerns with your fitter at the time. Once purchased all bespoke and special order saddles are non-refundable unless they are found to be faulty.
Warranties and Guarantees
All new saddles purchased from PCH Saddles Ltd are guaranteed for a period of 12 months for faulty materials and defective workmanship. Repairs, adjustments or alterations made by any person not authorised by PCH Saddles Ltd, or excessive or inappropriate use will invalidate all warranties and guarantees.
If you have any concerns regarding a possible fault with your saddle please contact us by telephone on 07939 537141 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss the issue in the first instance. If we agree with your concerns we will advise that you may return the item for inspection prior to repair or refund.
All saddles are returned to PCH Saddles at the customer’s own risk. We strongly advise that you package adequately and fully insure the saddle against loss or damage in transit.
During the warranty period we will reimburse the cost of return postage or courier if we find the saddle to be faulty (up to a maximum of £25). Please ensure that you retain proof of postage and receipt. We work with several couriers, please contact us if you are struggling to arrange delivery and we will try to help.
Following inspection of the saddle, if the saddle is within the warranty period and we find it to be faulty, we will arrange repair of the saddle.
